Barnet Hospital CPZ

Barnet Hospital CPZ Survey

Residents' permit parking was introduced a few years ago, with the latest experimental extension covering Quinta Drive, Ryecroft Crescent, Brett Road, Farm Close, Hackforth Close, Raebarn Gardens and St. Peter's Close introduced in February 2025 and made permanent early this year.

This is part of a much bigger picture of parking controls being rolled out across the area. Following complaints about parking displacement and safety concerns south of Barnet Hospital, particularly around Mays Lane, the Labour Council has now introduced a brand new Controlled Parking Zone called Underhill South. This covers 16 roads: Chesterfield Road, Dexter Road, Dormer Close, Edwyn Close, Greenland Road, Howard Way, Jarvis Close, Juniper Close, Matlock Close, Niton Close, Nupton Drive, Sampson Avenue, Sellwood Drive, Shelford Road, St Anna Road and Stanhope Road, and became operational on 15 December 2025.

What makes this especially frustrating is that 84.9% of residents initially consulted opposed the measures, with just 10.4% in favour. On the specific roads affected, 61% of residents said they did not want to be included. The Council went ahead regardless. Your views were ignored.

The scheme operates Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm, the same hours as the existing Barnet Hospital CPZ, aimed at stopping hospital visitors and workers from parking in residential streets. Whilst we understand the problem it is trying to solve, it is making daily life harder for many residents across our ward.

Below is a short survey to hear your views. We want to reach the best decision possible: one that actually represents what residents want.

Unlike the Labour Council, your views matter to us. If you would like to chat more about this or share anything else, please do get in touch. We are here to listen and fight for what is best for High Barnet.

Best regards,

Your Conservative Candidates for High Barnet and Underhill

James Esses, Amberley Thay, Lucy Milner and Reuben Ward.
