Councillor Shimon Ryde is the newly elected Conservative councillor for Hendon ward, having won the by-election last month. A long standing resident of Princes Park Avenue, Shimon is deeply rooted in the local community. He is a highly experienced councillor, first elected for Childs Hill in 2014.
Shimon has an outstanding record on planning and development issues and is widely known for standing up strongly for residents. He is an active member of the North West London Jewish community and serves as a school governor at two local schools. Residents describe Shimon as straightforward, approachable and hard working, a councillor who is always ready to go the extra mile. His priorities for Hendon include protecting the suburban character of the area, standing up for residents on planning and development issues, keeping streets clean, safe and well maintained, supporting local schools and community facilities, and being a strong, independent voice for the whole community.
Shimon is determined to bring back a strong Conservative majority on Barnet Council. He will continue fighting to protect Hendon’s unique character, ensure responsible development, tackle fly tipping, improve road safety and make sure local services work effectively for everyone. Above all, he is fully committed to being an accessible councillor who listens to residents and takes decisive action on the issues that matter most in Hendon.
