Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, was welcomed to local Indian restaurant, ZaynZah in Colney Hatch Lane, on Friday after nominating them for the prestigious Tiffin Cup competition, which celebrates South Asian cuisine.
The competition, which is run by MPs, is in its 8th year, and aims to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country in a bid to raise money for charity.
Since being nominated, ZaynZah have now got through to the regional finals. If they are successful in that round, they would go through to the Grand Final and compete against other restaurants in a cook-off at the House of Commons.
After buying dinner at ZaynZah on Friday evening for a group of her friends, Ms Villiers said:
“I am delighted that ZaynZah have got through to the next round and I wish them the best of luck with the next stage of the competition.”
“I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, the food was fantastic and, the owners, Syed and Tahmina Jafar were very hospitable. I would certainly recommend a visit to all my constituents.”
“I welcome the Tiffin Cup as a great way to promote local businesses and raise money for the charity, World Vision. The competition has been getting more and more popular and I am pleased to be able to take up this opportunity to support an excellent local restaurant.”
The Chairman of the Tiffin Club, Keith Vaz MP, added:

The Grand Final will be held in the House of Commons on Tuesday 2nd July. All competitors in the regional final will be invited to watch the final even if they do not make it to the next stage to compete.
The World Vision charity which the event supports commits to make long-term change to communities suffering from poverty, in particular children. By placing emphasis on advocacy they aim to influence the policies of governments and international bodies and to address the underlying causes of poverty.
