Chase Farm

After years of campaigning in support of Chase Farm Hospital, Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has welcomed the news that the multi-million pound project to rebuild the hospital has received the final go-ahead from the Government.

The final step was Department of Health and Treasury approval of the business case, which was needed to enable the £82 million Government contribution to this major programme of improvements to the hospital to go ahead. This has now happened.

As a result, construction will begin over the next few weeks. Services have already been transferred to alternative facilities to allow this to happen. Preliminary works such as the installation of new electrical cables, drainage and water supplies have been underway since last year.

Theresa Villiers said: “This is great news. I lobbied the Government in support of this multimillion rebuild of Chase Farm. The old buildings were not fit for purpose and it is a relief that the construction of brand new facilities has now been given the final go-ahead. It has been a long journey, but I welcome the fact that my constituents can now look forward to big improvements in healthcare at Chase Farm.”

All services are due to remain operational from other sites throughout the period of construction of the new hospital.
