Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has reported an anti-Semitic website to the police and urged them to close it down. The website promotes the demonstration by extremist groups due to take place on 4th July in Golders Green which has received widespread condemnation across north London.

Theresa Villiers said, “I was deeply concerned when a number of constituents sent me a link to a blog post about the demonstration due to happen on 4th July. The blog contains blatantly anti-Semitic content which is both shocking and repellent. I have reported it to the police as well as to the Home Office and the Parliamentary Committee on Anti-Semitism (PCCA).”

“The PCCA have informed me that a number of people have reported this website to police. The police have contacted Wordpress, who host the site in the US, and asked them to shut it down for contravening UK law. So far, Wordpress have refused, saying it did not break their user terms. The police have since gone back to Wordpress reiterating that it does indeed contravene their terms. In the meantime, the local police Public Order lead has taken this on and is investigating the matter.”

“I am urging the whole community to work together to ensure that the extremists behind the provocative demonstration planned for 4th July do not succeed in their goal of disrupting the harmony and community cohesion of which we are rightly proud in our diverse and multi-ethnic borough. We should all show solidarity with the Jewish community at this difficult time. I welcome the comments made by the Barnet Multi-Faith Forum and many others along these lines.”
