Ms Villiers, who has attended several planning meetings on this matter and was present when L&Q’s initial application was rejected by Enfield planning committee, continues to support the work of the opposition group, Save Cat Hill Campaign. She said:

“I want to reassure local residents that I am continuing to oppose L&Q’s plans. I am not reassured by the changes made by L&Q in this their second planning application. The changes made are largely cosmetic. The proposals continue to be too dense and too high. They would involve far too much over-spill parking on neighbouring roads, and the environmental impact of loss of trees and green space would be just as negative with this proposal as it was for the one Enfield rightly rejected last year.”

“I have written to Enfield Council to share the reasons for my objection and I urge residents to do the same. I will continue to support Kim Coleman and the Save Cat Hill Campaign in objecting to inappropriate development on this site.”

L&Q submitted their revised plans for the redevelopment of the former Middlesex University site in October 2012. Enfield Council’s planning department are said to be recommending this for approval with conditions, and there will be a further meeting on Monday 4th March 2013.
