On Friday morning she met Neil Roberts, Head of Primary Care for NHS London North, Central and East, Tony Griffiths, Regional Director for London for NHS Property Services and Martyn Hill from NHS Property Services at their offices in Lower Marsh in Waterloo. In the afternoon, she had a meeting with Dr Stella Okonkwo and her advisers at her current practice rooms in Osidge Lane in BrunswickPark.
At these meetings, Theresa urged all parties to work together to find a solution to get the Brunswick Park Health Centre back into use as soon as possible. At the end of her day of meetings, Theresa said:
“My constituents are frustrated that this excellent new facility for the NHS is still not in use. I have been pressing for progress on this since the fire which destroyed the original building and I share the concerns of residents in Brunswick Park who want the health centre to finally open.”
“That’s why I convened urgent meetings today to try to break the deadlock. I strongly urged both the NHS officials I met and the doctors to try to get the situation resolved. I made it clear how important it is for residents that the health centre opens.”
“Both the representatives of NHS Property Service and Dr Okonkwo expressed a willingness to take things forward. I obtained an assurance from the NHS officials that they would move as swiftly as possible once terms were agreed on a lease for Dr Okonkwo to move into the health centre.”
“Dr Okonkwo also said she was keen to see the issue resolved and would be happy to meet NHS officials face to face to try to resolve outstanding points regarding the potential lease and service charges.”
“There are a number of points still to be agreed, most important of which is the level of service charge. I will continue to encourage all concerned to get round the table together to get this resolved so my constituents can start using the new health centre.”
