Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has backed plans for rebuilding Chase Farm Hospital. The Royal Free Foundation Trust (which includes Chase Farm Hospital), has submitted an outline planning application to Enfield Council for a new hospital building of up to 32,000 sq metres, as well as new homes and a three-form entry primary school.

Theresa Villiers said: “I am supporting these plans for a major rebuild of Chase Farm Hospital. I am contacting Enfield Council to urge them to approve the outline planning application submitted by the Hospital Trust. The proposed new hospital facilities will significantly improve services for patients, many of whom are my constituents. Around £100 to £120m of funding has been secured for this rebuild, partly from funds provided by the Government and partly from the proceeds of sale of surplus land. All capital receipts from land sales will be ring-fenced for use by health services in Chase Farm and the local area.”

“I would encourage my constituents to back these plans by contacting Enfield Council in support of the planning application submitted by the Hospital Trust.”

A decision on the application is likely to be made at the Enfield Council planning committee meeting on 12 March. If approved, more detailed plans will be submitted later in the year. If these are approved, the new hospital facilities to open in 2018. The hospital is to remain open and fully operational during the building work although some services will be temporarily relocated on site. The funding secured is conditional on approval of a final business case which is expected to take place later this year.

Anyone wishing to submit their views on the application can do so by writing to the Head of Planning, Enfield Council, Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, EN1 3XW or by contacting [email protected]. The following reference should be quoted: 14/04574/OUT
