Theresa Villiers, Member of Parliament for Chipping Barnet, has expressed her congratulations to Theresa May in the following message on the Conservative Party leadership election:
"I would like to congratulate Theresa May on her victory in the Conservative leadership election. She will be a great Prime Minister and she has my full support. Under Theresa's leadership, the country will be in safe hands as we shape a new relationship with our European neighbours.
I voted for Andrea Leadsom in the leadership election but I fully understand and respect Andrea's decision to pull out of the contest. This will mean we can settle the uncertainty now and move swiftly to have a new Prime Minister in place as soon as possible.
I wish Theresa well with her premiership and I feel a sense of pride that the Conservative Party has given the country its second woman Prime Minister."
