The Barnet Conservative Group has welcomed the news of the release of hostages held in Gaza, expressing relief and hope for the safe return of all those still in captivity.
Cllr Peter Zinkin, Leader of the Opposition, said:
“This is a welcome development and one we have all hoped for. We continue to call for the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages. The people of Barnet stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and with the Jewish community during this deeply emotional time. Acts of terror have no place in our world - we must remain united in our commitment to peace, justice, and community safety.
Barnet Conservatives reaffirm their commitment to protecting all communities, promoting understanding, and supporting those affected by terrorism and antisemitism both locally and internationally.
Cllr Jennifer Grocock, Conservative Lead on Community Safety, said:
“The release of hostages is a moment of profound relief and shared joy. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been reunited with their loved ones, and with the families still waiting for news. This serves as a powerful reminder of why we must continue to stand firmly against terrorism and hatred in all its forms, ensuring the safety and security of every community here in Barnet and beyond.”
