Theresa Villiers, MP for Chipping Barnet, has praised the work of local Barnet artist, Renos Lavithis, after visiting a display of his paintings and drawings in the Coffee Seeker café in Ballards Lane, North Finchley.

Theresa said, “I was delighted to come along to the Coffee Seeker café to see the latest exhibition of the work of Renos Lavithis. Renos is my constituent and I am a great admirer of his art. He plays a leading role in local art societies such as the Barnet Collection and his drawings and paintings of Cyprus, London and Barnet are wonderful.”

“The Coffee Seeker exhibition is a small one but I think it is one of Renos’ best yet and I would encourage my constituents to pop in for great coffee and cake and some excellent images of local scenes.”

“I was delighted to hear of Renos’ plans for his forthcoming book which I am sure will be very successful.”

You can find out more information about Renos Lavithis and his art at http://www.renosart.co.uk/. The blue skies and the sea of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean have provided him with constant inspiration, evoking memories from his childhood. His work also covers the Lake District as well as local scenes in Barnet. After retiring after many years working at the Daily Mail, Renos created a series drawings and paintings of Fleet Street and other famous London landmarks such as Canary Wharf. A number of these became part of his very successful “My London” exhibition which took place last summer in the prestigious venue of the Gallery in the Crypt in St Martin in the Fields on Trafalgar Square.
